Posted On: 11/20/2018 My husband went to because he couldn't eat from his tooth and he needed a crown. They asked us to come the next day thinking it was going to get fixed. I understand waiting for approval from the insurance to get a crown but we thought they would give him a temporary fix while wait for approval. The dentist did no work but fix two cavities that were not an issue to begin with. Didn't give a temporary fix for the tooth that won't let him eat.
I called to ask why they didn't give a temporary fix for the tooth the whole time the person on the phone saying we fixed the cavities. But he didn't come in for cavities he needs the tooth that is cracked open to be fixed. 'Oh let me check his records' is what kept being repeated and also 'I'm sorry I was looking at the wrong record'. So that alone tells me the staff is incompetent and negligent.
The dentist and employees advice is to eat soft food (puree) or on the opposite side of the mouth for the next month. Not in those words because the staff member on the phone didn't know to say opposite side of the mouth or puree food. I had to guess this part because he kept stuttering looking for the words to say. This was all but a frustrated phone call to understand why they decided to not give a temporary cap on his tooth so that the wait for insurance verification for the crown would not feel as long or painful. Google Review Posted On: 10/23/2018 This dentist is the worst place ever to come, the staff is rude and disrespectful. I had a 9:30 appointment show up 15 minutes prior to my appointment and was told I didn’t have appointment . Even though I was called to confirm my appointment and had my appointment card in hand that stated today 10-23 -2018 at 9:30 . The reception looked me in the face and blatantly lied stating no one called me to confirm . Then when I said well who gave me this card she we did then put her head down then, I said well something needs to be done because I took off just to come to the dentist today. I was told after take a seat he would see me after the person he was with but I would have to find a new dentist after this appointment . Which to me was hilarious after the mistake was made by you and your staff . Which inconvenience to me as I am a business owner as well . I said nothing disrespectful I did not raise my voice I stated the obvious and instead of me being accommodated I was told to find another dentist after today’s appointment . How professional that’s like someone coming into my place of business for a service I mess up the appointment or did something wrong and then I tell them don’t come back because I wasn’t professional enough to deal with the situation . It’s a joke but I should’ve listened to myself when I first came to this dentist they were very rude .I brushed it off but this is on unacceptable . Google Review Posted On: 08/30/2018 This office is the worst . The wait time and then this Rosa person always trying to get you buy things out of pocket versus using your insurance. The last visit was a consultation that because I questioned her and she didn't like my attitude they told me they can longer service me. This place is a joke. Google Review Posted On: 07/26/2018 I'm so disappointed of this Family Dentistry. This place is MONEY HUNGRY!!!! I went to get a root canal done. The assistant did x-ray and the doctor stated I did not need a root canal. He was just going to file down the tooth and put a cap. SO THEY DECIDED TO CHARGE ME $1450 FOR A CAP. Me, myself don't know much about caps, so I decided to go with it. They had to fill in my tooth temporally until the cap comes from the lab. Then I told the assistant I don’t want to pay $1450 for a cap, that’s way too much money. They told me that they can’t cancel the entire transaction; I’ve to pay $725. Mind you I’m left with a bill and no cap on my tooth. Before you go to any dentist, please do research. Caps should not run no more than $600 without insurance, with insurance should be less. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANY ONE. DON'T LET THE ATMOSPHERE OF THIS PLACE FOOL YOU...

Google Review Posted On: 06/22/2018 Very dishonest money hungry dentist office. The tried to get me to pay $500 for a gum treatment that my insurance covers my first visit. I have two insurances that covers a crown together almost 80% they told me they would not submit my authorization for 6 weeks. I decided to pay out of pocket $2000 and they turned around and are billing my insurance as well for the procedure. I paid $500 for whitening. The assistant Rosa only gave me 30 minutes of an hour long whitening treatment and told me I did not need anymore. When I verbalized my dissatisfaction she became annoyed and requested I book an 1hour long slot knowing her time was limited. Today she claims she tried to help people all the time and “you are always mad”. Someone would be mad if the realize they are being taken advantage of. I called and she refused to take my message. Now she is saying she will only give me a partial refund since she did a 30min session. I have no desire to return and will seek legal action against this office for my entire payment as I should have had the full treatment in one setting and was not provided proper post procedure care. I will also report them for theft of services for inappropriately billing my government insurance. Stay clear of this office and of Dishonest Rosa. Nika K Google Review

Google Review Posted On: 03/13/2018 I went to NY Family Dentistry because of the positive reviews but I'm afraid my review is quite negative.
The person who cleaned my teeth (after I sat waiting in the chair for half an hour) seemed to be phoning it in. It was the most superficial cleaning I've ever experienced. When I had made the appointment I mentioned some gum pain but after the cleaning they told me if I wanted any information I'd need to come back the following day because the Doctor wasn't actually there at that time!
I've never been to a dentist appointment that didn't include a dentist, this was a first.
I did return the next day because I was hoping to get some help and didn't want to go through the whole process of finding a new dentist while in pain. On the second visit the Doctor appeared a half hour late, never introduced himself, and blamed the weather for his lateness (everyone else seemed to be there on time, including me!).
He was supposed to be the grown up in the room but I couldn't help feeling that he had no interest in being there with his patients who were now taking up every seat in the waiting room.
I see poor services in neighborhoods of color all the time and I would include this office in that category. It feels that professionals from outside the community set up shop to take people's money and give the absolute minimum in return. It's quite heartbreaking to see.
I give them 2 stars because the place is clean, the machines seem up to date and because one employee named Rosa seems to actually care about the people who come through. Dan Z Google Review

Google Review Posted On: 02/14/2017 Came here in pain and needed to have tooth extracted ASAP. The service performed was good and painless. I will have to note that they are seriously over priced. I did not have dental coverage so paid out of pocket. The cost of a tooth extraction was $150 more than a modern boutique dental office. I will also note that the Hygienist and patient coordinator's main objective is to sell, sell, sell. That part was not a pleasant experience. I was in pain and already at the location so I paid the fee to get the tooth extracted. Dr. Alex had great bedside manner and was excellent at making me feel comfortable, his assistant Veronica was awesome and held my hand through the process. Would I come back for future services? No. Not only did I suffer severe toothache, it was amplified by their cost. No way the cost of their services should be exceeding the cost of boutique dental offices in the city.
